If by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

So even though the old self is gone, your flesh -- your preprogrammed propensity for sin -- remains. But now, as a child of God who declares total dependence on God, you are free to put to death those fleshly deeds and obey Christ."
