Crossing Paths

Mark Batterson post:  Non-Profit Businesses

I flew down to Charlotte, NC yesterday to explore some opportunities with my friend, David Docusen.  David is the pastor of Center City Church and he is spearheading the first Ebenezer’s franchise.  We’re hoping to create a prototype of how this coffeehouse concept can spread with the motivation of creating space where the church and community can cross paths and creating a non-profit model that gives away every penny of profit.  That makes it a double win for the kingdom.

While I was there we had lunch at the King’s Kitchen.  It’s a non-profit restaurant that employs the unemployable–former inmates, homeless, etc.  Then they give the profits back to feed those in need. Plus they have great food. And one more thing, they let a church use their space on Sundays!  That’s kingdom vision.

We need a few more anointed businesses that think creatively about how the kingdom and their business can collide to bless others.
