There Is A God

Mark Batterson:  There is a God in Heaven

I'm reading thru Daniel during my Daniel fast and a little phrase invaded my spirit this morning: "But there is a God in heaven."

Daniel is in one of those impossible situations. The crazy king of Babylon doesn't just want someone to interpret a dream, which is hard enough, he wants someone to tell him what he dreamed and then interpret it. Are you kidding? And the punishment for failure is death! No pressure! Ever been in one of those situations where there doesn't seem to be a way out? The relationship seems ruined. The debt seems unending. The depression seems overwhelming. The opportunity seems lost. Those are the situations where we often give up on God, but those are the situations where we need Him most. Daniel could have complained: God, how could you let us get into this situation? But he sees an opportunity in the midst of the problem. Daniel assesses the situation and admits that it is impossible: "There are no wise men, enchanters, magicians, or fortune-tellers who can tell the such a thing." But he follows up on that assessment of reality with an assessment of an even greater reality: "But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets."

You never know when the God of heaven might invade the reality of your life and change everything!
